HITMAKA REVEALS LYING ON 'THE BREAKFAST CLUB' LED TO $500K-A-YEAR LABEL POSITION

Hitmaka, formerly known as Yung Berg, has disclosed a surprising career breakthrough that stemmed from a strategic fib during an appearance on The Breakfast Club. In a candid conversation with DJ Akademiks, the Chicago-born producer recounted how his misleading revelation on the popular radio show ultimately secured him a lucrative $500,000-per-year role at a major label.

During the interview, Hitmaka recounted the pivotal moment: "I went in the interview and went, ‘Yo, I swear these labels tryna hire me as an A&R, too. Not only am I making these records, they wanna hire me in these offices as an A&R.'" His statement, which caught the attention of listeners and hosts alike, inadvertently became a career-altering move.

He elaborated further on the aftermath: "Charlamagne was like, ‘Oh, for real?,’ kinda threw a little sauce on it. The next day, my man Ryan hit me and was like, ‘Yo, you was serious about that?’ I’m like, ‘Yeah.’ He like, ‘Yo, when you get back to L.A. I wanna take you to meet Craig and Julie. Y’all should do a meeting.’"

From this pivotal meeting, Hitmaka's career trajectory shifted dramatically. "From there I became the vice president of A&R from Atlantic Records … I think I was getting paid about half a million dollars a year," he concluded.

Hitmaka's rise in the industry hasn't been without its challenges. Earlier this year, he publicly accused Diddy of attempting to derail his career and poach his collaborators. In a revealing discussion on The Joe Budden Podcast, Hitmaka detailed his interactions with the rap mogul, citing disagreements over creative direction and alleged interference in his projects.

Despite these setbacks, Hitmaka has solidified his position as a prominent figure in hip hop, leveraging his production skills and industry acumen to navigate through turbulent waters. His story serves as a testament to the unpredictable dynamics of the music industry, where strategic maneuvers and bold claims can sometimes pave the way to success.
