The first casualty, 21-year-old Evans Kiratu, succumbed to injuries allegedly sustained during the protests. A viral video shared on social media platform X captured the harrowing moment Kiratu collapsed after reportedly being struck. Despite efforts to save him, Kiratu later passed away in hospital, amplifying calls for justice and accountability.

Earlier in the day, another protester, Rex Maina, met a similarly tragic fate when he was allegedly shot dead by a police officer. The circumstances surrounding Maina's death have fueled further unrest and demands for an independent investigation into police conduct during the demonstrations.

The Finance Bill, which has sparked these protests, proposes significant changes to fiscal policies impacting everyday Kenyans. Critics argue that these measures could exacerbate economic hardships, prompting widespread discontent and mobilization across various sectors of society.

Authorities have yet to issue an official statement addressing the incidents or providing clarity on the actions taken by law enforcement during the protests. The Kenyan public and international observers are closely monitoring developments as the situation continues to evolve.
