DMC of Run-DMC Reflects on the Group’s Legacy, Jam Master Jay’s Murder, and More on Drink Champs Podcast”

DMC of the legendary group Run-DMC was recently a guest on the Drink Champs podcast hosted by N.O.R.E., DJ EFN, and company. During the podcast, DMC spoke about the history of the rap pioneers, early career beginnings, and how they went on to shape the genre. As one of the foundational artists in hip-hop lore, he had a lot to say about his experiences and what he can look back and be proud of. The conversation also touched on lighter topics, jokes, and debates.

DMC also spoke about the loss of Jam Master Jay, and how his murder went on to irrevocably shape Run-DMC's career post-2002. He reflected on how Jay impacted music as a whole, as he is just as integral to the rap group's indelible cultural contributions. It's something that N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN deeply recognize, too, so it was a cathartic space to further process these tragedies.

In addition to that, DMC also reflected on his own struggles with alcoholism and depression, a topic he's been very vocal about in the past. "They didn’t listen," he told HipHopDX in May of 2022 about the glorification of substances and violence in rap. "The big problem is nobody in this current generation of rappers is constantly making records about the issues. Think about it. Out of all the rappers that are out there, who’s making records about the issues?"²²: [source](https://www.hiphopdx.com/news/id.71422/title.dmc-reflects-on-alcoholism-depression-in-rap-nobody-is-making-records-about-the-issues)

Lil Wayne Calls André 3000's Remarks About Rapping Over 40 'Depressing'

In a candid revelation, **Lil Wayne** recently expressed his disappointment after reading **André 3000's** recent remarks about rapping in one's 40s. The hip-hop icon, known for his lyrical prowess and influential career, didn't hold back in sharing his thoughts.

## **The Depressing Quote**

During the latest episode of his *Young Money Radio* show on **Apple Music**, Lil Wayne broached the subject. Although he didn't explicitly name names, it was evident that he referred to André 3000.

> "I read a depressing quote or two from someone I respect a lot in music—in hip-hop period, in music period," Wayne began. "And they were asked, 'Why haven't you been making music?' And their response was, 'Man, what am I supposed to talk about? I'm in my 40s. Like, what do I have to say?' That hit me hard. I mean, I have everything to talk about!"

## **Staying Relevant vs. Creative Discouragement**

Tyga, Wayne's guest on the show, chimed in with a different perspective. "But I feel like that's why you've got to stay in it," Tyga said. "You can't be too far removed."

Wayne, however, disagreed. He acknowledged that as an artist in his 40s, keeping up with current music trends might be creatively challenging. "That's why I don't listen," Wayne concluded. "I retreat to my creative space. I love what I do—I put it out there and swing for the fences."

## **André 3000's Perspective**

The comments Wayne alluded to originated from André 3000's interview with *GQ* last month. When discussing his new album, *New Blue Sun*, André explained why it lacks any raps or lyrics:

> "I've worked with some of the newest, freshest talent out there," André said. "But at my age, I find myself asking, 'What do I really want to say?' It's not about lacking inspiration; it's about choosing silence over noise."

## **The Ongoing Conversation**

Lil Wayne's candid response highlights the ongoing debate within hip-hop: how artists navigate their creative journeys as they age. André's introspection and Wayne's determination to keep creating serve as a testament to the genre's evolution.

As the hip-hop community reflects on these contrasting viewpoints, one thing remains clear: the art form continues to thrive, fueled by both seasoned veterans and emerging talents.

Stay tuned for more insights and discussions as hip-hop's narrative unfolds. 🎤🔥

Paul Wall and Lil Keke Drop New Single "Swangin' Glass" to Represent the Slab Movement

Houston's rap scene is ablaze once again as Paul Wall and Lil Keke team up for their latest track, "Swangin' Glass." This homage to H-town's iconic slab culture is set to make waves, and fans are eagerly awaiting its release on December 15th via Oiler Mobb/ONErpm.

"Swangin' Glass" showcases Paul Wall's signature chopped-and-screwed style, while Lil Keke brings his distinctive lyrical flow. The accompanying video immerses viewers in the very essence of slab culture, complete with Paul Wall's own customized "slab."

This isn't the first time these two Houston legends have collaborated. In 2020, they dropped the joint album *Slab Talk*, a project that arrived during a tumultuous period. Both artists were actively protesting the police killing of George "Big" Floyd, who had deep ties to DJ Screw and the S.U.C.

*Slab Talk* featured 10 tracks, with guest appearances from Slim Thug, Big Pokey, and Kendall Thomas. The album resonated with fans, capturing the spirit of Houston's streets and paying homage to its rich musical heritage.

Recently, Paul Wall joined forces with That Mexican OT for the single "Covered in Ice," marking their second collaboration of the year. But it was OT's surprise gift that stole the spotlight: a gold plaque for their debut single, "Johnny Dang." This track not only put the Texas newcomer on the map but also introduced Paul Wall to a whole new audience.

Despite being a hip-hop staple since 1998, Paul Wall's name may not ring as many bells with Gen Z as it does with older fans. However, he remains unafraid to educate unsuspecting music enthusiasts, proving that his legacy continues to evolve and inspire across generations.

Ice Spice Takes Over Brooklyn’s Barclays Center with Her Biggest Hits and Flaunts Her Figure in a Leather Mini Skirt

Ice Spice, the 23-year-old hitmaker, recently took over Brooklyn's Barclays Center on Wednesday evening, delivering a plethora of her biggest hits. She performed fan favorite tracks like "Deli," "Princess Diana," "Munch (Feelin' U)," and more. However, her songs weren't the only things she blessed her hometown fans with.

The Grammy-nominated rapper was also sure to flaunt her figure, complementing her signature curves with a leather mini skirt. Ice Spice has been making her way around the U.S. on Doja Cat's Scarlet tour as of late, most recently bringing the house down in NYC. The duo will continue to make their way across the U.S. and Canada until the middle of December, with notable stops in Detroit, Toronto, Chicago, and more.

Ice Spice has been making waves in the music industry, and her accomplishments are only adding to her long list of accolades. She was recently featured in Forbes' "30 Under 30" issue alongside other artists like Latto, Trippie Redd, Steve Lacy, and more. She's also in the running for four Grammy Awards at the 2024 ceremony, including Best New Artist. Her viral Barbie soundtrack contribution with Nicki Minaj, "Barbie World," is also nominated for Best Rap Song as well as Best Song Written for Digital Media. She's received an additional nod for her appearance on Taylor Swift's "Karma (Remix)," which is nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.

Ice Spice has already had quite a year, but she doesn't show any signs of slowing down. Earlier this month, she took to social media to tease some new music she has slated for 2024, though she didn't specify exactly what listeners can expect. If it's anything like what she's been dropping so far, fans are in for a treat..

Bianca Censori's recent outing with Kanye West

Bianca Censori, the fashion provocateur, was spotted with her husband Kanye West at designer Amina Muaddi's pop-up store in Dubai on Tuesday night (November 28), according to Page Six. For that visit, she wore an oversized fur hat and even brought a stuffed animal along with her. This is a new phase for the Yeezy architect; are we getting her accessorized era?

Bianca Censori has made plenty of headlines for her often minimal, lewd, and provocative fashion choices. Even though she's mostly known in the style realm for her revealing nature, it seems like she's experimenting with adding to her closet rather than subtracting.

Of course, these days, this duo is making the social media rounds for very different reasons. Alleged reports suggest that Kanye West and Bianca Censori are "getting back on track" following a rift in their relationship, and will not return to the United States for the holiday season. This follows a lot of speculation surrounding the state of their marriage, which exploded recently with some supposed sources speaking out on it. As such, we don't really know whether this is anything solid to go off of or if they're just going through the typical couple motions.

It is worth noting that Bianca Censori has been experimenting with her fashion choices lately. She was seen wearing an oversized fur hat and carrying a stuffed animal during her recent outing with Kanye West in Dubai. This is a departure from her usual minimal and provocative fashion choices. It remains to be seen whether this is a new phase for the Yeezy architect or just a one-time experiment.

Beyoncé Seemingly Hits Back At 'White Woman' Criticism In 'Hilarious' Fashion

Beyoncé has been the subject of criticism recently, with some people comparing her to Kim Kardashian and even calling her “white” after she appeared at the premiere for her Renaissance concert film in Los Angeles last weekend. Many people noted that her complexion appeared lighter than it had done previously. However, the Grammy-winner now appears to have responded to her critics in an Instagram post which features several pictures of the singer dressed all in white alongside her husband JAY-Z.

While her post, which was uploaded on Wednesday (November 29), didn’t feature a caption or explanation, many of her followers were quick to connect the apparent dots. One person wrote, “One thing about it my girl she never responds to the haters directly but it’s ALWAYS going to be a way she clears without saying a WORD! #BrownSkinGirl.” Another commented, “Bey put on white, winter white and beige and said yep I’m definitely Black. My good sis is hilarious,” while someone else said: “Her wearing all white was NOT a coincidence [crying face emojis] Beyonce is mad funny, bruh.” Others remarked on one shot which zooms in on Beyoncé’s face, with one writing: “And gave y’all the zoom in so you can’t play with her complexion!” Additional comments included: “Sis said ‘Look at the melanin, haters’!!!!” and: “This is how you shut the haters up.” ¹

50 Cent’s “Many Men” producer Six Figga Digga disputes the G-Unit leader’s claim the song is his least favorite from his seminal debut album Get Rich or Die Tryin’

50 Cent's "Many Men (Wish Death)" producer, Six Figga Digga, has disputed the rapper's claim that the song is his least favorite from his seminal debut album, Get Rich or Die Tryin'. In an interview with Apple Music, 50 Cent had lamented the sound and tempo of the track, but Six Figga Digga hit back during an interview with TMZ on Tuesday (November 28). "In my humble opinion, that was the point," he said.

"If you got a track like that, along with the other tracks that Dr. Dre did, then it’s not going to sound the same because I’m not Dr. Dre. Also, when it was done, it was a different frame of mind, a different way of thinking, so when you’re trying to blend those two things together, I can see that." The producer went on to name "Blood Hound," which features former G-Unit soldier Young Buck, as his own personal least favorite track from Get Rich or Die Tryin'. "The worst song on that album, I would probably say is that 'Blood Hound' song," he said. "To me, that’s the song, when you listen to it sonically, that’s the one that sticks out." He added: "At that time, the Southern influence was still taking over. I mean, he signed Young Buck because of his influence coming from, you know, that era of Juvenile and all of that type of sound. 50 was the one that was bringing the New York sound back, but with that 'Blood Hound' song, I feel like that was kinda catering to that audience that was happening at the time." Earlier this week, 50 Cent highlighted "Many Men (Wish Death)" as his least favorite from the album despite its cult popularity and general standing as one of his best songs.

Blueface McDonald's 10k

Blueface, a Los Angeles rapper, made an expensive trip to McDonald's aboard a private jet, as he couldn't resist the urge for a burger and some Mickey D's french fries. In video footage from earlier this week that has since gone viral, the rapper was in the air when he got the craving.

He then instructed the pilot to make a pit stop in Atlanta so he could secure a combo meal from the golden arches. Blueface said it was worth it after finding out it would be an extra $10,000 to land and get some burgers. The rapper showed off his successful burger and fries meal purchase on social media while walking back to the plane. "This McDonald’s right here cost me $10,000 just for this lil burger," he boasted. "It’s a combo though."

Cardi B twerking video

 Download our App

Cardi B's latest Instagram story has been the talk of the town. The video shows the "Bodak Yellow" artist twerking to her heart's content. However, even Cardi B can admit that her rhythm feels off in this clip. "Body on 10, twerk on 0 😂," she wrote over the screen, laughing at herself while throwing her bodacious behind in a circle ¹.

With all the years she's spent working as a stripper and rapper, you'd figure that by now, Cardi B should be pretty confident in her twerking skills. Since her initial rise to fame, the "Bodak Yellow" artist has hardly stopped clapping her surgically enhanced cheeks – even more so since she crossed paths with Offset. The pair now shares two children, but even that hasn't been able to stop Bardi from shaking her booty.

Cardi B's dancing abilities aren't the only area of her life where she has been feeling off. This year for Thanksgiving, the Invasion of Privacy artist admitted to missing out on all of her family's festivities while enjoying a seriously deep sleep. Seeing as she's working hard on putting her long-awaited sophomore album together for a 2024 release, and raising two little ones, it's understandable if she needed to use her day off to catch up on her beauty slumber. Hopefully, Bardi also makes time to work on getting her booty-shaking game back on 100 before she films her next music video.

I’m always in awe of Suleika, how she deals with hardship

Jon Batiste and his wife Suleika Jaouad have been an inspiration to many. The couple has been through thick and thin, and their love has only grown stronger with time. In a trailer for the November 2023 Netflix documentary American Symphony, Batiste said, "I’m always in awe of Suleika, how she deals with hardship."

The documentary follows a year in Batiste’s life, documenting his soaring professional success as Jaoud battles leukemia. After initially going into remission in her 20s, Jaouad relapsed in 2021. During an appearance on Million Dollaz Worth Of Game that aired on Thursday (November 23), the 29-year-old rapper reflected on his time in lockup and the hardships of his grueling job inside. “Bruh, they had me in there working in the kitchen,” he revealed as the co-hosts had a laugh.
