Swizz Beatz, the renowned music producer, recently spoke highly of Kanye West and his My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy recording sessions in an exclusive interview with HipHopDX. During the interview, while promoting his new TV show Drive with Swizz Beatz, Swizz expressed his admiration for the time he spent working on Ye's groundbreaking album. He described the experience as an ongoing celebration of musical brilliance, comparing it to a "musical genius frat house." Swizz's praise further solidifies the legendary status of Kanye West's MBDTF and sheds light on the creative energy that fueled its creation.
"It didn’t feel like an album was being done," Swizz Beatz shared. "It felt like you could go into the booth, do whatever you want to do. You know, you come in the studio, and Kobe Bryant might be in the studio. You never knew who was in the studio." The atmosphere during the My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy recording sessions was described by Swizz as a constant party, reminiscent of Saturday Night Live or a gathering where everyone wanted to be seen. It embodied the spirited energy of a frat house. However, amidst the lively atmosphere, the most important aspect was the abundance of creative inspiration. The album was a testament to the continuous flow of creative juices that drove the project forward.Download our app hereThis isn't the first time that Swizz Beatz has expressed his admiration for Kanye West. In 2021, following the tragic passing of DMX, the legendary rapper and member of Ruff Ryders, Swizz Beatz shared the heartfelt story of how Kanye played a significant role in honoring DMX's memory. Swizz described Kanye's involvement in a very genuine act of love and support. There were no lengthy discussions or negotiations; instead, Kanye simply showed up to his Sunday Service. Swizz knew that DMX had been a big fan of Kanye's Sunday Service, making it clear that this was something DMX would have wanted to be a part of.
Swizz Beatz further elaborated on the memorial service, acknowledging that it was a last-minute arrangement and noting that people were unaware of the challenges they faced behind the scenes. Despite the time constraints, the stage was still under construction when attendees arrived. Rather than stopping the proceedings, they decided to keep the momentum going, refusing to let any obstacles dampen their tribute to the late DMX. Swizz also expressed gratitude towards the Barclays Center for their incredible patience throughout the entire process. In addition, he mentioned the impactful visual of a monster truck and thousands of bikes parading through the streets, symbolizing the larger-than-life presence and enduring legacy of DMX.
Swizz Beatz explained that their intention was to give their brother, DMX, a remarkable farewell that would stand out and be unlike anything people had witnessed before. The decision to include a monster truck in the procession stemmed from DMX's deep love for remote-controlled vehicles, making it feel more fitting and personal than a traditional hearse. Swizz emphasized that DMX belonged in a monster truck, symbolizing his larger-than-life persona and energy. Alongside the monster truck, 10,000 bikes joined the procession, creating a powerful visual tribute to DMX. Swizz expressed his belief that as they saw the monster truck and bikers crossing the bridge, DMX would be smiling down from above, satisfied with the tribute they had created.
