Hip hop journalist and former TIDAL executive Elliott Wilson has apologized to Twitch streamer Kai Cenat after a heated exchange involving rap superstar Nicki Minaj.
The drama started when Wilson posted a photo of Nicki twerking on Cenat's show and captioned it "Hip Hop journalism". Nicki, who was promoting her new album Pink Friday 2, did not appreciate the shade and fired back at Wilson on social media, calling him a "hoe n-gga" and accusing him of being biased towards JAY-Z.
Wilson, who hosts the Rap Radar Podcast, has been vocal about his frustration with rap artists who choose to do interviews with non-traditional media platforms instead of established outlets. He also claimed that he never dissed Nicki and always praised her as the greatest female rapper of all time.
The situation escalated when 50 Cent, who collaborated with Nicki on the bonus track "Lace It", joined the fray and mocked Wilson on Instagram, saying that Nicki's clapback had him "crying LMAO".
On Saturday (December 16), Wilson took to Twitter to offer a public apology to Cenat and his family, saying that he was "out of line" and that he respected Cenat's work and creativity. He also quoted a JAY-Z lyric from "It's Hot" to acknowledge his mistake: "Go against Nicki? I must've been dense. The Barbz tore me up, and even 50 Cent."
Cenat, who has gained popularity for his live streams with rap stars such as Eminem, Travis Scott, and Chrisean Rock, has not responded to Wilson's apology yet. Nicki and 50 have also remained silent on the matter.
