Playboi Carti is back with a new song that has fans buzzing. The Atlanta rapper released "2024" on Thursday night (December 14), a track co-produced by Kanye West, ojivolta and earlonthebeat.
The song marks Carti's first solo release since his 2020 album Whole Lotta Red, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. It also features Carti's signature "baby voice" and a deeper vocal delivery.
The music video for "2024" includes a cameo from Kanye, who wears the same black KKK mask he sported at his Vultures "rave" in Miami earlier this week. A$AP Nast and other members of Carti's crew also appear in the clip.
The song has already received a co-sign from Drake, who DM'd Carti on Instagram to praise the track. "2024 is amazing," Drake wrote, despite his previous beef with Kanye.
Carti shared a screenshot of the message on his Instagram Stories, along with a fire emoji.
Carti is reportedly working on his next album, which could be titled I Am Music. He teased the project on social media earlier this month, and Pharrell reposted the graphic with the caption "PREPARE."
According to Akademiks, the album is expected to drop in January 2024 and is "the greatest thing you ever heard."
Carti and Kanye have a close relationship, as Kanye executive produced Whole Lotta Red and featured on two songs, "Off the Grid" and "Junya." Carti also expressed his admiration for Kanye in an interview with Kid Cudi for Interview Magazine last year.
"Kanye is the OG. He opened my eyes to some shit. When I got around him, I realized why I love him so much," Carti said.
He also thanked Kanye for introducing him to Cudi, saying they both understand him and are on the same "king vamp shit."
