Rapper and producer 50 Cent has expressed his interest in helping actress Taraji P. Henson land more lucrative roles after her hit show Empire ends. The Power star, who has been feuding with Henson over their rival shows, recently praised her for her acting skills and offered to collaborate with her on future projects.
50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, revealed that he had helped his friend and fellow singer Mary J. Blige secure a major deal for her role in his spin-off series Power Book II: Ghost. He claimed that Blige was paid more than Henson for her work on Empire, despite the latter being the lead character.
He said that he wanted to do the same for Henson, who had announced that she had fired her entire team of agents and managers for failing to capitalize on the success of Empire. The show, which premiered in 2015, is set to end with its sixth and final season this year.
"I'm gonna get Taraji a big bag, because she's been treated unfairly," 50 Cent said in an Instagram video. "She should have been getting a lot more money for that show. She's the reason why people watch it."
He added that he had reached out to Henson on social media and asked her to work with him on his upcoming projects. He said that he had several ideas for her, including a possible role in his Marvel series for Netflix.
"I got a lot of love for Taraji, she's a great actress," he said. "She deserves better. She deserves to be a superstar. I'm gonna make that happen for her."
Henson has not publicly responded to 50 Cent's offer, but she has previously expressed her gratitude for her role as Cookie Lyon on Empire. She said that the show had changed her life and career, and that she was proud of the legacy it had created.
"I'm leaving with a bang, not a whimper," she said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. "I'm leaving with a lot of tears, but I'm also leaving with a lot of joy and a lot of pride."
