According to 8 News Now, Keefe D has dismissed his public defenders and hired a new attorney, David Chesnoff, to represent him in the case.

The notice of substitution was filed in the Las Vegas courts on Thursday (January 18) and accepted by the courts on Friday (January 19). Chesnoff is a prominent criminal defense lawyer who has represented celebrities such as Paris Hilton, Bruno Mars, and Snoop Dogg.

Keefe D, whose real name is Duane Keith Davis, is facing charges of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder for his alleged role in the fatal drive-by shooting of 2Pac on September 7, 1996. Keefe D was in the car with the gunman, Orlando Anderson, who was his nephew. Keefe D claimed that he was acting on behalf of Death Row Records co-founder Suge Knight, who was also in the car with 2Pac when he was shot.

Keefe D made the shocking confession in a 2018 documentary series, Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and The Notorious B.I.G. He said he decided to come clean because he was dying of cancer and wanted to clear his conscience. However, his confession was not admissible in court due to a statute of limitations.

The murder trial of Keefe D is expected to begin later this year. If convicted, he could face life in prison without parole. 2Pac's fans and family are hoping that justice will finally be served for the slain rapper, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest and most influential artists of all time.
